REUNION 2010 - SAN ANTONIO
DETAILS TO HELP YOU PLAN YOUR REUNION

Our Hotel
The Crowne Plaza Riverwalk is the setting for our 92nd annual reunion. Check-in will be at 3:00 pm and checkout 12:00 pm. As usual you can stay 3 days before and after the reunion at our rate. The hotel is located at 111 E. Pecan St. The phone number is 210-354-2800. We have taken over the entire hotel of 400 rooms and have also set up an overflow hotel around the corner. Of course it will be first come, first placed in the main hotel. The banquet tickets will be limited and will be sold to registered attendees only.

Transportation from San Antonio International Airport
San Antonio International airport (SAT) is located 8 miles from downtown. There is a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel; click this Airport Express link for Society members to use to reserve their rides. Be sure to have your flight information and credit card information available. There is also a variety of bus, rail, taxi and trolley systems available curbside at both terminals. There are also 9 on site car rentals.

Ground Transportation
The hotel at 111 E. Pecan Street is about 6 blocks south of the S Pan Am Expressway (Interstate 35). If taking 35 South to downtown, take the Main St exit, turn left, and make a left on Pecan St. If taking 35 North to downtown, take the Durango St. exit, turn left on Santa Rosa St, and left on Martin St. Martin St. turns into Pecan St. and the hotel is on the corner of Pecan and Soledad.

Driving and Parking
For those who drive to the reunion, discounted self-parking is available for $10 per day.

Hotel Reunion Meal Specials
The hotel is offering our attendees a 15% discount in hotel restaurants with your official reunion badge.

Schedule
If your wallet or schedule makes it impossible for you to arrive at the reunion on Wednesday, don’t worry. The core of reunion events takes place on Friday and Saturday. We can accommodate you either way. If you can’t make the entire event please feel free to join us whenever you can. You won’t be sorry!

Spread The Word!
You can help spread the word about our reunion by sending our News Release to the editor or pressroom of your local media. Please make copies and mail or fax it to all of the newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations that you can. TIP: If you hand-deliver it, they may ask to interview you.

Unit Command Posts
As is our custom the 2nd, 16th, 18th, 26th and 28th Infantries, Artillery, Cavalry/Armor, Headquarters and Support Units, Engineers and Aviation Units will operate Command Posts (Hospitality Rooms) for their units. Veterans from units not listed are welcome in any CP. The size of your CP room will be based on the number of members from your unit attending.

Handicapped Rooms
Please do not request a handicapped room unless you absolutely need to. If you have problems with walking or anything else please indicate them on your reservation form and we will do everything in our power to assist you. Please be considerate of your fellow 1st Division veterans.

Cut-off Date
The cut-off date for hotel room reservations is July 9, 2010. Please try to get your registration form to us well before that date. After July 9, 2010, hotel room reservations will only be based on space and rate availability, and you will have to contact the hotel reservation desk directly at 1-210-354-2800.

Hotel Cancellations / Refunds
If you make reservations and then have to cancel them, we will refund your full amount minus the registration fee, as long as it is 24 hours before your arrival. Cancellations made less than 24 hours from arrival date will be charged for one night’s hotel stay including tax and the registration fee. Please check with us if you have any questions. Any cancellations to be made before noon EST on August 20, 2010 should be directed to the Society office 1-215-661-1969. After that time all cancellations must be made through the hotel as the Society staff will be in transit. Please call the hotel at 1-210-354-2800 and also leave your message for Jen Sanford.

Tour Cancellations / Refunds
If you cancel by June 23, 2010 you will receive a full refund. From June 23, 1010 until July 23, 2010 you will receive 50% refund and after the 23rd of July there isn’t any refund.

Weather and Local Information Online
Summer weather in San Antonio is typically very warm with a high of 84 degrees but the weather can often change in a hour, so include a lightweight jacket or sweater just to be sure. Please wear comfortable clothes for all tours as well as good walking shoes. Casual clothing is appropriate for most restaurants.

Confirmation
As usual, we will send you a written confirmation of all registration information. Please check it over carefully and make sure you are signed up for all of the activities and functions you are interested in as there is limited seating on some activities. The banquet is also limited so please sign up early and we can only sell tickets to registered attendees of our reunion.


All reservations for 2010 Reunion activities must be made through the Society. Registration forms will be published in the Spring edition of the Bridgehead Sentinel, and will also be available online.
