Omaha Beach, June 6, 1999, 0630 hours. The 1st Infantry Division CG, staff, color guard, regimental colors and veterans of the landing (Walt Ehlers, MOH, front row, nearest camera) commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Division's D-Day landing on 'Bloody Omaha' June 6th, 1944.
The Society’s Commemorative Event Program marks significant events in the history of the 1st Infantry Division by acknowledging the achievements, courage and sacrifice of the many brave Americans who wore the Big Red One patch with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

This program remains suspended during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

Announcement of the resumption of these events will be published in the Bridgehead Sentinel and on this site.
