Commemorative Events

Omaha Beach, June 6, 1999, 0630 hours. The 1st Infantry Division CG, staff, color guard, regimental colors and veterans of the landing (Walt Ehlers, MOH, front row, nearest camera) commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Division's D-Day landing on 'Bloody Omaha' June 6th, 1944. |
The Society embarked on a new program to commemorate significant events in the history of the 1st Infantry Division. The overall concept is, that each year, the Society will sponsor one "Commemorative Event" acknowledging the courage and sacrifice of the many brave Americans who wore the Big Red One patch during that action.
Our Commemorative Events Program has been suspended for the duration of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
